Louis Vuitton Mannequins!

Just saw these on Gary Card's Blog!
Please check his blog out and follow him as well. He's very talented. :)

Anyway, so yeah, these are LOUIS VUITTON FREAKIN MANNEQUINS for Love Magazine!
Having an obsession with mannequins, I would pay more than I probably should for these.

I especially love the first two!

Once again, please check out Gary Card's blog here.

Olympic Fashion...NO!

I love fashoin, and I love designer garments.

But what is the point of having designers make olympic clothes that look like the sweaters in Walmart catalogues?

Left: Dsquared for Canada; Right: Ralph Lauren for USA

I do not understand.

I could have designed those sweaters, and no one would really care, because I'm not a famous designer. I mean, it doesn't take much innovation for THAT.

Fashion can be funny that way...

MindBoggles#1.

It drives us. It makes us more determined to beat someone. It's evil, and can usually turn to become flat out vile. It's sometimes a pain. A grudge. A ticking bomb waiting to explode. It makes you want to scream. Want to stop. It sometimes deludes you. Changes your way of thinking. Should I play fair? Or dirty. Do I really want this for myself? Does the other person want it more than I do? Am I really worth it? CAN I beat them? My country depends on me. My team depends on me. My family depends on me. My coach, my friends. But do I depend on myself?

What does it take to be an Olympian? Do you have to be mentally stable as well as physically? Could you really face your countries wrath if you lose? Or if you win, their ever-so-elated hugs and congratulations? Could you take the fame that comes with a win, or the scrutiny that comes with a loss? Would you, after 4 years of intense practice, grueling 7 hour days, and injuries unknown to the typical, be able to run through your event easily? Or will it be hard. Will all the thoughts running through your head make you screw up, or victorious? Will the weight of your country on your shoulders make you more determined to come out on top, or will you fall to the bottom.

The 21st Olympic Winter games are sadly coming to a close, and in less than 1 hour the fate of the Canadian hockey team will be put on the line. Will they beat Team USA in the game of the year? Or will they once again, fall too short.

I'll tell you what I want.

What I really, really want.

(sorry that was a really cheesy lyric)

Raffiné pencils, Prismacolor coloured pencils, and Copic Multiliner pens.

Urgh, I saw these in an old Flare magazine of mine, and I wanted them really badly (especially the top ones) so I drew them.

Life sucks! But drawing these things makes me feel better. I don't know why.

p.s. the page was not perfectly flat, so it looks like I drew the heel much shorter than the shoe...but in real life, it doesn't look like that. :/

Fall 2010 Favourites Part 1

Not a summary of any certain show, 'cause let's face it, I'm too lazy for that, and fashion is not my forte, but that doesn't mean I can't pick out a few things I like and share my thoughts on them with you, right? ;D

So let's proceed. ;)

To the left (to the left, everything you own in the box to the left!) that is Matthew Williamson. Honestly, what can I say? I'm a sucker for neons. Albeit, it is the easiest way to make a statement, really...but nonetheless, neons never cease to make me drool. <3 Hearts for neons!

Ok so here are some of my favourite "awkwards":

Beastly

Filmed in Vancouver (CANADA, WOO), Vanessa Hudgens breaks out of her highschool-musical-disney-loving self and stars in the romantic/thriller film with Alex Pettyfer.

I'm excited for this movie.
ARE YOU?

Darlings, I give you..

Who, might you ask, is this scruffy bon bon? Well, to answer your question, its Dave Franco. Younger brother of the notoriously known evil villian in Spiderman played by James Franco. He's in the new issue of Details mag (One of my favourite magazines ever, as they seem to have drool-material photos). So pick it up on Newstands and lovely bookstores across the NA!

Oh, by the way readers, Nedda and I currently reside in Canada, therefore we spell things the Canadian way... with unnecessary "u"s. I thought I'd warn you from now.

For the detail oriented ones here, we've put up a new header, with the ever so clever "Mustart" logo. We spent out Friday night dressing up an obnoxiously yellow mustard bottle because we want this blog to work out. SO...If you read this blog, and happen to like it, then what harm will it do ya to follow or possible advertise us on your own blog? We're likely to do the same (I swear, we don't bite).

Today's Monday, so we're going to do a "Music Monday" thing, kind of like the twitter craze. Except here at Mustart, Justin Bieber doesn't trend.

So the song for today....

EGO- The Saturdays
I'm sure we all know someone with a big.. uh-huh, EGO.

Punk Photography...by Loïc Peoc'h

So I have discovered Loïc Peoc'h photography (uh, how to pronounce that?) and I love it! Very badass, edgy stuff. This photographer harnesses the beauty of black & white, as well as lowly-saturated colours very well.

Be myyyy valentine...crap, that was yesterday.

I'm a day late, but so what, this needs to be shared.

I love Kina Grannis! When I heard Message From Your Heart a while back, I was astounded by her talent. I really enjoy the lyrics as much as her soft tunes (she writes her own songs, by the way)--"This is a message from your heart, your most devoted body part, taking blood and making art." This is the kind of music I can imagine being played in Starbucks while enjoying a nice Cinnamon Dolce Latte, mmm...

And the Valentine video, aww, so cute. I love the animation falling like dominoes. "So won't you be my honey bee?"

Check out her official website and YouTube page. And, do as the website says...pre-order her album 'Stairwells' NOW. It'll be signed by Kina herself! HELLO people, she's going to be famous one day, and 10 years from now this signed CD will be worth thousands...!

About Rihanna's new video...

I absolutely love it.

What I don't love is the comparisons people make.
In some unmentionable places on the net, Rihanna's 'Rude Boy' has been compared to this. Seriously? 'Boyz' looks like a cheap crappy pixelated Gameboy game. Rihanna's video is more Pop art.

Lady Gaga once said that people's references don't go very far back. This is a perfect example.

When I see Rude Boy, I visually imagine this:

Be The Change.

Tuesday February 9th marked one of the best days of my life. I, along with Maria and other friends met.....wait for it.......CRAIGfreakingKIELBURGER!

I know, you're probably thinking, who the hell is that? Well, Craig is the founder of "Free the Children" organization. He, and eleven other schoolmates started the organization when they were at the mere age of 12. Craig had seen a newspaper article on a young enslaved boy in India who had been killed. He then set out to change that, back then, he had no idea it would one day be THIS big.

The idea of Free the Children is to literally, free enslaved and underprivileged children from their misery. Help them get food, clean water, and have an education that we undoubtedly take advantage of. We all know we live in a good place. We have a roof atop ourselves, food, and not as many hardships. There are starving kids in Kenya who go days without food, child soldiers in Sudan who are thrown into the world of violence, families in India who get torn apart because of slavery. In todays world, there are 28 million slaves. What Free the Children wants to do, is minimize that number; because right now, 14 out of that 28 million, are children.

Free the Children is children helping children. One way that they do that, is through donations. You can donate at www.freethechildren.com !Also, if you're still a student, you could start your own Me To We group at school, where you could potentially fund raise for this great cause. The Free the Children website has a great start up kit, and you could also get guest speakers/coordinators.

We live in a world were we've got to ACT in order to see the change. So, I leave you with the Free The Children slogan, and a very humble quote by the honourable Gandhi...

"Be the change you wish to see in the world"

Alexander McQueen's Death

As we've heard, on February 11th, the great British fashion designer Alexander McQueen took his own life. He was notorious for his shocking runway collections and the world was recently gawking over his armadillo heels, worn by Lady Gaga in the Bad Romance video, along with many other McQueen fashions. According to Stylelist.com, he is believed to have hanged himself in his London flat, and it is presumed to be related to the loss of his mother on Feb. 2.

My personal favourite piece that McQueen has ever done are these crystal shoes from his 2009 Spring ShoeCollection:

And of course, the Westboro Baptist Church has to stick their noses where they don't belong, again. Click here to see what I'm talking about. Shame on them.

R.I.P Alexander McQueen, you will be missed. Long live your legacy.

Gaga Money!

Craig Gleason's Gaga dollars have been floating around the net for some time now. He's just uploaded a youtube video of himself breaking the law--I mean, painting Gaga on the money.

Check out his blog here and contact him if you'd like to buy them, or you can buy them from his Etsy shop here.

The Future of Weddings

Add ImageCheck out this bride and groom from the Chanel Spring 2010 Couture Collection. While the bride's hair (especially the bangs), thick lace material on the dress, and fabulous silver fingerless gloves look fantastic, all eyes are on the groom in this one. Karl Lagerfeld says about the collection: "an electronic flash in my head at five o'clock one morning."

It certainly does look electric! I would even say this looks a bit androgynous; typically all eyes are on the beauty of a bride on a wedding day, but as I stated before, how can you help but stare at the groom, shining in silver?

Like a Virgin

Oh, stop being so dirty minded! Welcome to Mustart, where we squeeze the goods into your system and hopefully it stays there. We're two obnoxiously talented teenagers who want to blog about fashion, life, art, and everything in between. I'm Fatma, and my sidekicks name is Nedda.

Seriously though, we'd actually want to keep this blog going. We've got to get settled in for now, get a nice template going(thats the Tech-Detailed Maria's job) and stuff like that. For the first couple of weeks, we'd probably be blogging more to ourselves than actual readers.. but we won't fret, we shall keep bloggin until readers come flocking through like ostriches (Do ostriches fly..?)

Nedda will do her best to help ensure that you all hear our roaring voices through the blogs we post. And I shall do my best to not annoy her about colour schemes being purple.

That is all for now.
This is not the last of us!
Fatma and Nedda
P.S: First picture is of the new Burberry Spring Line 2010. Love that trenchcoat... not so much the malnourished model.
